Phillip Mapoma
Young people, Adult and Couples Counsellor
I am a qualified Counsellor
I never imagined that childhood experiences such as changing schools six different times, not as having many friends and a bicycle accident could be considered traumatic events and impact me in adulthood. It was only when I began training to be a counsellor and received personal therapy (as a course requirement) that I fully understood.
Since qualifying as a BACP registered counsellor, it has been my passion and quest to help people struggling with trauma related issues including depression, anxiety, anger, grief and relationship issues.
Cultural Diversity - I am able to relate with individuals from various cultural backgrounds as I have lived in various cities in Southern Africa, Italy, France and the UK. I was also born into an extended family that included relatives from Sweden, Scotland, America, Iran, Trinidad, South Africa and Zambia. As such, I have a deep appreciation of the diversity, mixed heritage and the rich tapestry of mankind which I feel very comfortable working within.
Couples Therapy and Premarital Counselling - I have especially enjoyed working with inter-racial couples covering all the main relationship issues using the Prepare-Enrich programme.
If you are looking for someone who is non-judgmental, compassionate, has a good listening ear and really cares about helping people, then you have found the right person.
I am a calm mannered individual who remains composed and level-headed even when your most distressing issues are shared. I will be your co-pilot and partner with you
